What’s Been Happening?
Winter Warrior Challenge enters it’s final month
The past week and a half of the Oxywealth Games has provided Winter Warrior Challengers with plenty of extra sessions to help top up their tallies. I racked up 9 sessions with all the fun and games so my personal tally has jumped up to 51/77 and I can see that little ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
If your personal tally is a little behind schedule, take a look at the August calendar and make the commitment to bring it home strong in the final month of Winter.
Oxywealth Games proves popular
Since the weekend there has been a range of activities. The Weightlifting Event saw the Squat take centre stage. The top weights lifted in the Men’s were 145, 155 and 160kg whilst in the Womens there were lifts at 105, 95 and 90kg efforts. Rugby 7’s saw a huge turnout and an entertaining game with kicks, flick passes and plenty of razzle-dazzle making for a fun session.
Another Powerlifting event with a second round of Bench Presses put everyone to the test. Again we worked up from lightweights with plenty of reps to the point where the weight was heavy and everyone was pushing for their 1RM (1 Rep Maximum). I personally managed to better my PB (which I only set last week) by two more levels to Bench Press 88kg. The Top weights lifted in the Men’s were 110kg shared by Guy Farland and Sean Casey whilst Lorien Spooner Hart hit an enormous 70kg press in the Women’s.
We’ve also had Hockey and Netball in which great games were had with lots of great passing displays and skillful goals. Although Netball was soured by an injured ankle to Jade Braun, it looks like the it is on the mend so fingers crossed.
All in all the Games have been so well received there’s been a number of requests to have a Sports/Games Super Saturday once per month. Stay tuned…

Kayla Wrigley
This week’s Member of the Week again goes to someone who has won before, Kayla Wrigley. Since early April she has been lifting heavy and working harder than she ever has before. She continues to surprise herself and many others with what she is capable of. Through the Oxywealth Games she has attended both some of the fun Games as well as some of the tough Weightlifting events. She’s even got up early to get involved a number of times (which isn’t her fave thing to do) and rack up the most Performance Points over the last week.
Well done Kayla, you’re our Member of the Week.

STAIR CHALLENGE
I’ve personally done this unique event 3 times and it’s my kind of fitness event – short, sharp, intense and followed by a Corona and some great views at the end. It took me 10 and a half minutes to run the 1504 steps of Sydney Tower a few years ago with the Men’s winner running in an incredible time of 6 and a half min. Click here to register.

TOUGH MUDDER
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
The obstacle course described as “probably the toughest event on the planet” is a worldwide phenomenon. This year’s Sydney event is conveniently located in the Southern Highlands and having done this event I must admit it is one of the most challenging but rewarding things I have ever done.
20km of obstacles, fire, ice water and electric shocks sounds fun right? Did I mention there’s A LOT of mud?
With a number of Oxy’s keen to have a crack at their first event, I have registered a team here.
The reason I have included this so far out from the event date is because if you register before August 21 you’ll only pay $145.
