Time for another dose of Monday Motivation to take you into the final month of 2013.
Today I have a quote that’ll be very relevant heading into the busiest month of the year, December. You know what it’s like, heaps of work to finish off for the year, Christmas shopping to do, parties and events to attend – it’s gunna be hectic at times.
How do you manage it all whilst keeping a handle on your health?
I seriously see people every year that use 1 day of the year (December 25th) as an 8 week binge to put their health & fitness on the backburner. They claim it’s “just too busy” in December. Then it gets into January and it’s all a bit too much with family commitments and more parties to attend and bla bla bla.
It’s all because they can’t manage their priorities.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to some time off as much as the next person. But since when does 1 day constitute an 8 week break? If your health & fitness is a priority to you, and it should be, then use exercise and good nutrition to help combat the threat of the coming month.
Yes there is some high calorie food coming your way. Don’t multiply that by following it with more crappy food. Getting back to some healthy food after a bit of binge will help get your energy levels and mood on track. There’s probably some late nights and missed exercise sessions coming your way. Don’t let one day of no exercise turn into 2,3 or 4 in a row. Alcohol? Combat it with plenty of water before, during and after.
I was only chatting to an Oxygen Health & Fitness client this morning who has used exercise as a real stress buster these past few weeks. For her, the busiest time of year is coming up and without regular stress relief from exercise all the planning and anticipation of it all may have just gotten the benefit of her.
Don’t forget the many benefits of a healthy lifestyle go far beyond just looking better.
Xmas is only one day, a couple of days in a row max. Don’t kid yourself into thinking it’s ok to go on a complete bender of food and alcohol that stretches over the next 8 weeks. You made a promise to yourself that health & fitness is a priority so enjoy the festivities that are coming but remember what it feels like to be fit, strong and stress free.
