Kiama High School

Oxygen’s School Sports Program began at Kiama High School in Term 1, 2010.  Initially we delivered the elective “Boxing for Fitness” to Year 8 and 9.  These students chose to do the activity for all of Term 1 and improved their skills and fitness levels significantly.

“Boxing for Fitness” was also delivered to Year 7 students on a rotating roster.  Every 3 weeks a fresh bunch of energetic Year 7′s learnt how to pack a punch and improve their cardiovascular fitness.

Since then students have raved about how much they have enjoyed it as a sport and Oxygen will now deliver Year 7, 8 and 9 sport for the rest of 2010.

In addition, as part of the unit “Group Fitness”, two Year 10 Recreation classes have entered Oxygen’s P.O.W Camp during Term 2.  The sixty plus students have been split into Red, Green, Blue and Yellow Tribes that will square off each week in a series of Powerful Outdoor Workouts that include individual and team fitness challenges.  Points are awarded each week for effort, encouragement and team spirit with prizes given at the end of the term for the winning tribe and also students who have excelled.

“Kiama High School students have thoroughly enjoyed the new addition of cardio-boxing for sport with Oxygen Health & Fitness.  The sessions are not only a great workout for the students, but also motivating, fun, challenging and provide variety.  This is now one of the most popular sports being offered”
