On Saturday 1st May to Sunday 2nd May 2010 Kiama held it’s first ever Relay for Life, a 24 hour walking event that raises money for the Cancer Council. There were over 51 teams that entered and I am proud to say that Oxygen were well represented and achieved by far the highest lap tally with an enormous 1494 laps!
After setting my own personal goal of 105 laps (the equivalent of a 42km Marathon) I was very proud to see three other Oxygen Members achieve the feat including Clint Nicholson, Judy Franklin and cancer survivor Julie Forster.
An outstanding effort to all involved, including the kids, friends and family members who also joined in the fun.
I’m sure next year we will raise the bar even higher and possibly break the 2000 lap barrier!
